Does President Obama wear a seatbelt in his presidential limo? He is supposed to, but there are indications that he doesn’t.
After then-New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D) was seriously injured in a car accident in 2007 (partly because he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt), ITK inquired about whether the Secret Service mandated that the president (then George W. Bush) be fastened before his motorcade went on its way.
The best way to find out, ITK was told back then, was to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request about the Secret Service’s policy on seat belts. So ITK did. And we waited — and waited, and waited — to hear back.
