Seven people died and 12 more were injured, all by gunfire, in a 12-hour rash of violence across the city overnight.
The shooting spree started about 4:40 p.m. Thursday when Anthony Lopez, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to his chest at 1700 W. Cullerton St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Lopez was pronounced dead at 5:31 p.m. at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
