The Shrum Compass

An ominous sign for President Obama: Bob Shrum confidently predicts he’s “on the verge of overseeing economic revival and the historic achievement of national health reform.”

Eight days before Election Day, Shrum wrote, “by focusing on the economy, Corzine, whatever his own problems, has exposed Christie as an empty suit on the issue that ranks highest among voters.” The day before this year’s elections, Shrum wrote, “Win or lose on Tuesday, Republicans lose.” Which more or less sums up his method of political analysis quite succinctly, I think.

UPDATE: Of course, Shrum also famously said to John Kerry on Election Day 2004, “May I be the first to call you, ‘Mr. President.’”
