Pres. Barack Obama, before the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce right now: “Secretary [of Education Arne] Duncan will apply only one test when evaluating education programs — not whether it is liberal or conservative, but whether it works.”
Does this mean his administration will go to the mat against Democrats who want to kill a voucher program in the District of Columbia, and effectively expel classmates of the president’s daughters at Sidwell Friends? Vague expressions of support are a good start, but a veto threat would carry a lot more weight.
