“Red Meat” has been a delightful surprise at this convention — and I say surprise in the sense that the editors said to me, hours beforehand, “hey, let’s do a daily video feature for the convention.” Today, we wrap things up here in Denver, with Pete Hegseth, head of Vets for Freedom, a fine organization aiming to make sure Americans know about the troops’ pride in their work in Iraq and Afghanistan. He joined Mark Hemingway and I to discuss what National Security Day meant for Democrats and the DNC, and whether we’d all feel more protected if Obama’s running mate had been Joe Biden’s mother.
