New Mexico’s Governor’s Race Gets a Familiar Name

It’s a crowded field in the Republican primary for the governor’s race in New Mexico, but a familiar name is now going to be on the ballot:

News 13 has learned that Pete Domenici Jr. will official jump into the race this weekend. Domenici Jr. is an Albuquerque lawyer with no political experience, but he carries a big last name in New Mexico politics. “It’s pretty big news for the Republican Party they have a major name now and he probably starts with an advantage because of that but it’s not going to be any easy task for him to get the nomination,” political analyst Joe Monahan said.

Bill Richardson is term-limited; his lieutenant governor, Diane Denish, is running to replace him.
