The Campaign Spot

Lingle Star Rising, and Rudy Begins His Comparisons

Linda Lingle made something of a statement with that speech, after a slow start. Readers are already asking, “who was she?” Hawaii is a tough spot to make a splash in national politics, but I’m sure that not long ago, we were saying the same thing about Alaska.

Rudy: “This is the time when the American people pick the president, not the left wing media, not Hollywood celebrities, but the people of America!” The line brings the delegates to their feet.
Rudy begins his comparisons, asking voters to imagine examining two contrasting resumes, with the names and party affiliations blocked out.
“One of the candidates has passed every test. Democrats, Republicans, everyone says John McCain is a hero.”
UPDATE: “He worked as a community organizer.” (spontaneous laughter) Maybe this is the first problem on the resume. He immersed himself .
“He couldn’t decide whether to vote yes, or no. It was too tough!” Giuliani at his best, the wide-eyed mugging comedian. “I didn’t know about this ‘voting present’ thing when I was mayor of New York City. Sarah Palin didn’t have this vote present when she was mayor or governor. For President of the United States, it’s not enough to be present. You have to make a decision.”
“He’s never had to lead in a crisis. He’s at least the least experienced candidate in 100 years. Barack Obama has never led anything. Nothing. Nada. Nada!” Wow. I think the McCain campaign has found their attack dog.
“We agree with Joe Biden, this one time, until he flip-flopped… And that’s the one time we agree with Hillary! I’ll bet you never thought you’d hear applause for her at this convention!”
