In response to yesterday’s reference to the Michael Jackson memorial service as the “Downfall of American Civilization,” a reader writes in, “what’s got you and other right-wing radicals upset is that michael jackson’s america and barack obama’s america [sic] are so very different from the WASP world you and others were brought up in and encouraged to think was all that mattered.”
So in short order I’ve been labeled a WASP, lacking in Christian forgiveness, and a neocon. Man, you skip church a bit, don’t show up at the bar as often as you used to, and suddenly you’re not Irish or Catholic anymore.
