The Agenda

Let’s Not Slit Our Wrists Just Yet

I’m a big fan of Jim Geraghty and his artful use of little plastic figures, which really has to be seen to be believed. But let me just say that a surge in temporary jobs isn’t necessarily so bad. Firms will often dip a toe in by hiring temps first, and then creating permanent jobs down the line. So we’ll see. I still think the big problem is the work disincentives problem that Casey Mulligan has been informatively banging on about over at Supply and Demand (in that order).
