In short, by calling for carbon taxes in lieu of a carbon dioxide cap-and-trade rationing scheme, certain players are unwittingly giving life to cap-and-trade legislation. While this surely comes from a sincere concern over cap-and-trade being adopted, even were that the case – which recent events suggest is hardly the case at all – this approach, so lacking in critical nuance, is deeply self-defeating.
Not a pretty sight. A reality check is necessary, as the first step in no longer aiding the other cause.
