Re: The Obama/BP Police State

Jim Geraghty’s “Morning Jolt” (you can subscribe here, if you haven’t already) has more:

Hey, how about that most transparent administration ever? Doug Ross details more cases of government officials being suspiciously helpful to BP by detaining or harassing photographers.

One can’t help but wonder if all of those federal resources being used for news-coverage management could be better used for, say, spill management. Over at the Standard, Winston Groom assesses, “Between double and ten times the presently available personnel and equipment is needed, and they are needed now.

“Well, it’s not like the federal government is taking steps to ensure they control all information coming out of the cleanup efforts. Oh, wait: “The U.S. government is expected to take over control of the central information Web site on the oil spill response that has been run jointly by various agencies and BP for the 2 1/2 months since the rig explosion. The Department of Homeland Security wants a one-stop shop for information that is completely overseen by the government.”
