I am glad to report that the Antarctic will be taking part in the Live Earth concert series. Scientists from the British Antarctic Survey have formed a band called Nunatak and will play for their 17 colleagues (no mention of how many penguins). As mentioned previously, I shall be most disappointed if they do not include ‘Oh Larsen B’ in their repertoire (which I have just realized is the ultimate break-up song).
It should also be unusual in that this audience will probably be much more, how can I say … sober than the others. I do hope the attendees at the other concerts offset the carbon involved in all their purchases.
