Students Required to Lobby for Nanny Statism

George Washington University law professor John Banzhaf thinks he’s saving the world with his activism on behalf of numerous causes. He is now teaching (although that doesn’t really seem to be the right word) an undergrad course in which students will have to lobby in favor of the kinds of nanny-state intervention he likes. Read about it here.

Some years ago, a blatantly politicized literature course at Berkeley advertised that “conservative thinkers should not enroll.” That would seem to apply here, a fortiori. Any student who doesn’t agree that it is the role of the state to tell people to behave in the ways bossy authoritarians think they should is obviously going to have trouble with Professor Banzhaf.
