The New Republic on Fisher v. Texas

Richard Kahlenberg urges the Obama administration to oppose race-based preferences (and support class-based preferences, his hobby horse) in this post on The New Republic today. He rightly notes that the administration’s amicus brief in Fisher v. University of Texas is due Monday, and that politically his proposed course of action makes much more sense than supporting the university. I agree with that, and I agree with Richard’s anti-race-preference bottom line, even as I disagree with much of the rest of what he has to say. We’ll see what happens on Monday.
