Academics at Odds with Holy Land Prosecutors

The Holy Land Foundation, the largest Muslim charity in the nation, was a front group that channeled millions in donations to groups in the Middle East with ties to Hamas, a terrorist group which killed U.S. civilians, prosecutors alleged. Yet, this past fall, the judge declared a mistrial.

Some in academe and the media see this as an exoneration of the organization and a challenge to a main legal stratagem in the war on terrorism. Legal and terrorism experts recently contradicted this before congressional staff members, asserting, however, that prosecutors might in future such cases have to make a more compelling argument.
