‘On the Short List’: Marjorie Taylor Greene Teases VP Hopes

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) admitted during an interview on Wednesday that she is eyeing a potential Cabinet position or the vice presidency if Donald Trump were to return to the White House in January of 2025.

“I have a lot of things to think about,” the firebrand representative told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Am I going to be a part of President Trump’s Cabinet if he wins? Is it possible that I’ll be VP?”

Greene elaborated that if the former president, a staunch ally of hers, were to extend an invitation to join to be Trump’s running mate on the Republican ticket, it would be “an honor” and something worth “very, very heavily” considering.

Greene’s comments come just two days after the former president was indicted in Fulton County, Ga., for interfering in the state’s last presidential election. The announcement drew the support of Republican governor Brian Kemp who insisted that the “2020 election in Georgia was not stolen.”

“For nearly three years now, anyone with evidence of fraud has failed to come forward – under oath – and prove anything in a court of law. Our elections in Georgia are secure, accessible, and fair and will continue to be as long as I am governor. The future of our country is at stake in 2024 and that must be our focus,” the newly-reelected official added.

The Georgia representative rushed to defend Trump and condemn Kemp. The latter’s “message should have been against this, not arguing with President Trump about the election and making it about his own ego and pride over Georgia’s election,” Greene told the Journal-Constitution. “That’s a bad statement, and I was very upset over it.”

In March, Trump teased the idea of backing Greene for a potential Senate run. Marjorie Taylor Greene, you happen to be here. Would you like to run for the Senate? I will fight like hell for you, I tell you,” the former president told a crowd at a Texas rally.

On Monday, the former president and over a dozen other defendants were named in an indictment by a Georgia grand jury pertaining to their alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential-election results.

Trump personally faces 13 felony charges, including conspiracy to commit forgery, filing false documents, Solicitation of Violation of Oath by Public Officer, and violating the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

Among the other named defendants in the nearly hundred-page indictment unsealed on Monday evening, include former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and several members of Trump’s former legal team: Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Jenna Ellis, and Sidney Powell.
