A charter plane carrying Senator J. D. Vance, former president Donald Trump’s running mate, was forced to make an emergency landing in Milwaukee on Friday because of a door-seal malfunction, according to the Trump-Vance campaign.

The “Trump Force Two” plane, a Boeing 737-86J, was en route from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The malfunction was discovered minutes after takeoff, and the plane returned to the Milwaukee airport, Vance spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk told reporters.

“The pilot advised there was a malfunction with the door seal,” Van Kirk said.

Vance had traveled to Wisconsin to deliver remarks to members of the Milwaukee Police Association. He was traveling with his wife and a group of advisers, Secret Service agents, and journalists when the incident occurred, according to the New York TimesThe plane stayed on the tarmac for less than an hour before continuing on to its destination.

The issue comes just one week after Trump’s Boeing 757, “Trump Force One,” was diverted to Billings, Mont., during the former president’s trip to a rally in Bozeman, Mont., because of an unnamed issue with the plane. He was flown to his final destination on a charter aircraft.
