Re: Biden’s Tuzla Moment

Fox News has a piece up on how Joe Biden won’t stay on script at his appearances, but this section jumped out:

In a section where he was to give a laundry list of failures in McCain’s judgment on Iraq, Biden inserted himself into the argument. “In the run up to the Iraq war, like the Bush administration — I was conducting those hearings. John insisted that Saddam was in league with Al Qaeda and complicit in 9-11,” he said. “John also said we’d be greeted as liberators. I wrote a report before we went to war, as Elijah will remember, saying not the day after Saddam fell, it’d be the decade after.”
The prepared remarks go on to list McCain’s other failures in the region, from Iran to Afghanistan — each concluding with the phrase “Barack was right” — a phrase Biden never once said in the speech.
“You want to know where bin Laden is, come back to Afghanistan with me. Come back to the area where my helicopter was forced down with a three star general and three senators at 10,500 feet in the middle of those mountains. I can tell you where they are,” he says.

Again with the “forced down.” It was a snowstorm and Biden’s own aide, at the time, referred to the incident as an “unscheduled” landing.
