Warring Over the “War on Science”

Chris Mooney and I are debating the thesis of his book, The Republican War on Science.  I review his book in Regulation, and expanded on the review here .  Mooney answered my charges on his blog, and I offer a reply here .  I think it is important to note that while I have plenty of critical things to say about Mooney’s book, he is correct that there are many examples of the Bush Administration and others on the Right abusing science.  While the Right is not uniquely guilty — and I believe Mooney grossly discounts the abuses of the Left — we should not excuse political abuse of science from either side of the aisle.
