Huckabee and Obama are both natural performers, with authentic messages. I also heard reporting to the effect that Obama volunteers tried to embed into their target communities and really get to know them, as opposed to the Dean orange-cap crowd in 2004. Huckabee’s organization, of course, was almost entirely word-of-mouth and spontaneous get-out-the-vote efforts. In contrast, the mechanics and resources of Hillary and Huckabee couldn’t over-come their weaknesses as campaigners and their more synthetic-seeming messages.
