I think the town hall format is a little tougher for Romney. He’s at his most natural behind a podium. And I’ve seen him whiff on showing basic empathy for questioners before, and instead go straight to his answer, and the data. But Mark Salter probably has it about right in this column over at RCP. If Romney is as impressive as he was on substance as he was two weeks ago, and strikes the same tone (while avoiding a major gaffe, of course), he should be in good shape no matter what the president does.
