Tim Walz Doesn’t Know What Kamala Believes Because She Doesn’t Either

Politico‘s Playbook newsletter has this jaw-dropping admission:

— What about Tim? One of the issues that Harris world is currently working to address is how to deploy running mate TIM WALZ in the media. The danger in sending him out to do big solo interviews is that he might not have a full command of where Harris is on every issue. As someone pointed out to us last night, Harris talks about the “opportunity economy,” but if Walz were asked to define it, would he know how?

We’ve watched as J. D. Vance has ably articulated Donald Trump’s views on all sorts of issues like abortion or Ukraine, even when there is reason to suspect Vance would stake a different position if he was in the lead spot.

Tim Walz, who doesn’t lack political gifts for communication, cannot do this for Kamala Harris. Why? Because Harris does not know her own mind. She allowed the convention nominating her to proceed in the most substanceless way possible, avowing only to be “joyful.” Harris did not have convictions that could withstand the passing fashions and fads of 2020’s radicalism, and her attempt to reassert any have been awkward.

Maybe they are waiting for the last polls to come in before she finally signs off on a message. I doubt it.

For now, Harris is more feebly insecure in her own reasoning than Biden was insensate in his. Just as electing a clearly incapable Biden meant that unnamed aides were usurping executive authority, so electing Harris means throwing the most powerful office in the world to the wind.
