Terrific News from President Biden

David Drucker reports that President Biden intends to say the following during tonight’s State of the Union address:

To my Republican friends, if we could work together in the last Congress, there is no reason we can’t work together in this new Congress. The people sent us a clear message. Fighting for the sake of fighting, power for the sake of power, conflict for the sake of conflict, gets us nowhere.

This is terrific news. At long last, Biden seems to understand that his opposition to the policies that I care about represents “fighting for the sake of fighting, power for the sake of power, conflict for the sake of conflict.” Finally, he’s grasped that there are the things I support, which matter, and that there is his contrived political resistance, which doesn’t. Belatedly, Biden has confirmed his commitment to giving in on policy in the name of “the people.”

Oh, wait. He means it the other way around, doesn’t he? He means that he’s the sensible one, and that it’s those who dissent from his worldview who are “fighting for the sake of fighting,” wielding “power for the sake of power,” and stirring “conflict for the sake of conflict.” He means that “the people” sent him to do the things he favors, and that those same people are angry with the other politicians they sent to D.C., who are standing in his way.

Understood. As you were.
