Specter’s Dilemma

Sen. Arlen Specter (R, Pa.), whose vote is considered critical on the Employee Free Choice Act, has been very non-committal on whether he plans to vote for it once again. But the prospect of a serious primary challenge from former Rep. Pat Toomey (R) appears to be having its desired effect. Specter was quoted today in the Reading Eagle addressing reporters and sounding a rather negative tone on the legislation:

“Jobs are being exported. We have problems with pensions and health care. To take away the secret ballot is big stuff. I’m listening to all of the viewpoints very carefully. I have a hunch we’ll vote this spring.”
