On the latest stop of her book tour, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor said she doesn’t belong to any political party on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report last night. “How do you know I’m not [a Republican]?” Sotomayor asked host Stephen Colbert when he assumed she was a Democrat. “Surprisingly enough to you, I’m not a Democrat, I’m an independent.” When Colbert asked her what the most conservative belief she has is, Sotomayor replied, “I believe in the Constitution.” “Well then, you know what, I believe you’re not a Democrat,” Colbert responded.
