Shrinking People

I confess that this has been an idea of my Dad’s for decades. Ever since I was a little kid he’s talked about it. Imagine how concerned I was when there was a villain on the Saturday morning “Super Friends” cartoon who wanted to do precisely the same thing my Dad wanted to do (for much the same reasons). Lots of people see my mom as a supervillain, but not dear ol’ Dad. Today, however, I am more troubled by some of the Malthusian undertones to my Dad’s premise. Since, of course, most natural resources are not becoming more scarce in an economic sense there’s no need to shrink people.
