Well, this ought to be some lunch today.
OBAMA and BIDEN will spend the day together at the WHITE HOUSE: Every event on the calendar for both men includes the other. The dynamic duo receive the Daily Briefing in the Oval Office at 10:15, meet with Hillary at 10:45, grab lunch at 12:30 and then head back to the Oval for a sit down with Tim Geithner at 1:45.
Although current conventional wisdom says that, for practical reasons and his own outsized ego, Obama can’t dump the national embarrassment that is Joe Biden, it seems increasingly likely that Slow Joe must and will go if the law firm of Jarrett, Axelrod, Plouffe & Michelle decide he’s a drag on the president’s reelection chances. Which of course he is.
And signs are everywhere.
“Slavery is nothing to joke about. . . . You can’t continue to make gaffe after gaffe after gaffe and believe that it’s going to be supportive of what you and the president are trying to do,” said former Virginia Democratic Gov. Doug Wilder.

If this were the real world, which presidential politics sure are not these days in a campaign that feels like mud-wrestling, Joe Biden would be fired for what he said the other day about chains. Biden would be gone and Barack Obama would be doing something he should have done a year ago, at least, which means ask Hillary Clinton to run with him.
Biden makes Barry look ridiculous, and as Jack Woltz says to Tom Hagen in The Godfather, “a man in my position can’t afford to be made to look ridiculous.” The minute Paul Ryan was announced, conservatives all over America were checking the date of the vice-presidential debate in order to mark it in their calendars and pre-order the popcorn. Talk about appointment television . . .
Sure, there are plenty of conventional reasons why it would be a bad idea, and whether Hillary Clinton would be interested in four more years of being yoked to Barack Obama is an open question. But there’s no doubt in my mind that Obama will make the move in an instant if those terrible internal polls don’t start to turn around fast. And why does it have to be Hillary? Getting rid of Biden is addition by subtraction, and almost anybody would be an improvement.
So Joe ought to be a little nervous heading into lunch today. Because he just might be on the menu.
