Science=Liberal?

Chris Mooney decries attacks on science from the Right. While I agree with Mooney on some points (for instance, ID — whatever its merits — is not science), I think he has major blind spot for attacks on science from the Left. The Bush Administration has manipulated science for political ends, but so did its predecessors. This isn’t a Republican or Democrat thing — it’s a political thing. Anti-evolution folks distort science, but so do environmental alarmists and anti-GMO types. Mooney’s also stretching quite a bit when he equates evolution with climate change. I comment further here. Mooney responded here, and my rejoinder is here.
