Romney’s Frontrunner Strategy

The interesting thing about Romney is that he’s really running a kind of frontrunner’s campaign without a frontrunner’s strengths. He is running in every state and basically has to do well in every state, while his opponents can pick and choose. That’s the position a frontrunner usually finds himself in. But a frontrunner has overwhelming establishment support and a big lead in national polls. Romney obviously doesn’t have either of those things. The one big advantage he has over the other candidates is more resources, which is one reason he can attempt his frontrunning-but-not-frontrunning campaign in the first place.
