Reranking the Presidents

On his Bastiat’s Window Substack, Bob Graboyes writes about the 2024 presidential rankings announced by the Presidential Greatness Project, which used survey responses from 154 political scientists. Of course, presidents who expanded the federal government got high marks and those who were content to abide by the Constitution and leave the people alone mostly got poor ones.

Bob gives us his own rankings, in five tiers, from the really good presidents to the awful ones. You will find a lot of good debate material here.

To raise just one objection, Graboyes includes LBJ in the next-to-lowest tier. I think LBJ belongs in the lowest considering the vast harm caused by his Great Society measures, especially the creation of federal student aid for college. The long-run damage that has caused the nation is unfathomable.
