The Really Destructive Primary Voters Yesterday

were Democrats in D.C. Which reminds me: A few days before the election, the sometimes-sensible Colbert King slammed Michelle Rhee for campaigning for Adrian Fenty: “How can black parents now trust her to be fair?” Try to follow this: Black voters are justified in distrusting Rhee because she supported the black candidate that most white voters supported instead of the black candidate that most black voters support. That’s all it takes to make it reasonable to consider her hostile to black parents. Racial politics has sometimes been uglier than that, but it has rarely been weirder.
