I believe Larry Tate may have been the greatest character in the history of television — the perfectly spineless man, who holds onto power by twisting himself into a pretzel to please his client, willing to sacrifice his friend and colleague at a moment’s notice, and yet being entirely lovable all the while. The actor who played him was named David White, and it’s a crime he never won anything for it.
