This is actually in response to your corner post about the Burgess article. You write “Burgess seems to hate Democratic leaders and pols, although a very few of his constructions admit of a broader reading.”
Did you read the *title* of the article? “Friends, neighbors, and countrymen of the Left: I hate your lying guts.” I don’t think it takes any deep analysis to figure out that his hate is directed at everyone on the left. Not that there aren’t people on the left who say or write similar things about those on the right, but please at least be accurate when commenting on Burgess’ article. I am basically on the same page as the reader who originally forwarded you the article.
Yes, I read the headline, but since op-ed writers typically don’t write their own headlines, I chose to look at the body of the op-ed.
