Re: Huckabee in SC

I predicted that Huckabee would win today but lose the nomination. One of his backers emailed me:

Huck doesn’t have to win the nomination. Just SC and FL. And then Rudy is done.

I’m not sure Huckabee is the only person who could beat Giuliani in Florida, or even if Huckabee’s retention of strength there will reduce Giuliani’s likelihood of winning. There is a plausible argument that Giuliani would rather face Huckabee than McCain as the winner of South Carolina. If you’re anti-McCain and anti-Huckabee–as Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh are–you should probably want Huckabee to win today, on the theory that he is less of a threat to get the nomination than McCain is.
