Take note of the way the quotes are constructed. The first, “One thing that God has brought to us is Terri Schiavo, to help elevate the visibility of what is going on in America,” is a completely legitimate statement on how a culture that denies some lives are worth anything, or worth living, i.e. one that endorses abortion on demand and euthenasia, gradually gets to the point where taking action to kill a living person by slow dehydration and starvation in this case, becomes “reasonable”.
The second quote “This is exactly the issue that is going on in America, of attacks against the conservative movement, against me and against many others,” is not directly referenced to the first (at least as you quote it). It may have been a completely different issue. The last section merely makes an assertion that he is accusing the media and others of trying to destroy the conservative movement, which I can believe, and he may have said, but note that to do this the Times has to do some interesting filling in between quotes. Given it’s the Times, I’ll need to hear the whole tape before I believe they are reporting it accurately.
