Jonah, that Jeb comment was one of the reasons I wrote my column today, “The Myth of Republican Irrationality.” Although—and you know how this goes—I ended up never quite getting to it in my column. Another counter-argument to Jeb, it seems to me, is quite simple: The Republicans just nominated Mitt Romney. If Romney could manage it, presumably Ronald Reagan could as well.
