Democratic senators joined Kathleen Sebelius for an Affordable Care Act HHS abortion-inducing drug, contraception, and sterilization mandate-fest on the Hill this morning. “Let’s keep our women and our mothers healthy,” Mary Landrieu said, somewhat perversely, given they’re in part praising mandated coverage of abortion-inducing drugs.
In trying to insist that this is all about science and not about institutionalizing the radical ideology of the sexual revolution that insists that a woman cannot be free without access to contraception and abortion, some senators pointed to a frequently characterized “independent” panel from the Institute of Medicine that came up with this HHS mandate that goes into effect tomorrow. The problem with that assertion is: Upon closer examination, that panel was as radical as the regulation it conceived.
