The Corner

Presidential ’Ports

In Impromptus today, I mention I saw a sign advertising flights “from Clinton to Reagan” — from Clinton Airport in Little Rock to Reagan Airport in Washington, D.C. I further say, “I wonder how Reagan would feel about that. I wonder how the Clintons feel about an airport named after Reagan.” (The Little Rock airport is named after both Clintons, by the way.)

Let me share a memory here on the Corner: When National Airport was being named for Reagan — and we could debate, or re-debate, the appropriateness of that move — a colleague of mine said, “Just imagine: If you go from Washington to Orange County, you’re going from Ronald Reagan to John Wayne.”
