Politifact pulls the same old bait-and-switch on J. D. Vance.

“Donald Trump is running against a Joe Biden president who wants taxpayer-funded abortions up until the moment of birth,” Vance said.

This is False and misleads about how rarely abortions are performed later in pregnancy.

Vance supposedly misled people about the frequency of abortions late in pregnancy by . . . not saying one word about the frequency of abortions later in pregnancy.

Politifact goes on to say that abortions later in pregnancy are a small percentage of all abortions, which is true but neither touches Vance’s point that Biden’s policy is to allow them not even establishes that they are rare. It also claims that abortions later in pregnancy are “typically” for health reasons. Even if true — and Politifact provides no footnote or link — this would again be irrelevant to Vance’s point.

Follow the “False” link in Politifact’s write-up, and you get citations to several experts who, surprise surprise, all back abortion. None of these experts provides any evidence that Biden is willing to place any legal restrictions on abortion even late in pregnancy. He says he believes in “a woman’s right to choose” and won’t say he wants limits on that supposed right late in pregnancy. Draw the obvious conclusion, though, and an entire industry of fact-checkers will pretend you’re wrong.
