Piling on the DREAM

Mickey Kaus points to a Politico report that House Democrats are trying to round up a few extra Republican votes for the DREAM Act by adding to it the AgJobs bill, which would amnesty all the illegal-alien farmworkers already here and put in place an indentured-labor program to import more and tie them to work in the fields for a few years before they got green cards. I’m not sure how adding amnesty on top of amnesty makes the bill more palatable, but maybe the Dems are just displaying the keen political acumen we’ve come to expect from them over the past two years.

As Mickey writes, “It’s not as big an amnesty as I’d thought. It’s much, much bigger…”

(I just hope this DREAM Act thing ends soon because I’m running out of headline ideas containing the word “dream.”)
