Plenty of emails on this topic too, mainly in support of John Tierney’s attack on the DEA, but some readers wrote in to say that there was a problem with prescription opioid “abuse”. Even if we avoid re-fighting the drug wars and simply concede that point (it’s a nice afternoon), it is impossible to avoid the conclusion that the current approach being taken by the DEA is throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and roughing the poor child up as it does so.
