Palin on Trump, Birthers

Sarah Palin said Saturday that President Obama’s refusal to release his long-form birth certificate was “perplexing,” and that she “appreciate[s]” Donald Trump’s efforts to investigate in Hawaii.

“I think that he [Obama] was born in Hawaii because there was the birth announcement put in the newspaper,” Palin said.

But she also said that there was “obviously” in the unreleased birth certificate something that Obama “doesn’t want people to see.”

“Donald Trump may get to the bottom of it because he’s spending the resources,” she added.

In February, when speaking to the Long Island Association, Palin urged people to focus on important issues, such as Obama’s fiscal record, instead of the birther claims. “It’s distracting. It gets annoying. And let’s just stick with what really matters,” she said.
