Britain is, quite correctly, going to be buying a new generation of submarines that will be will be equipped with nuclear weapons, thus preserving the UK’s nuclear deterrence well into the 21st Century. Now, I understand that not all Brits will think this is a good idea, and, doubtless there are some reasonable arguments that can be made to support their case, but this letter (published in today’s Times) is not convincing, not at all. In essence its authors are opposed to nukes because they hurt people. Hmmm. Isn’t that, like, the point? Hat-tip: Harry
