Abigail, ABC News reports that former Georgia Supreme Court chief justice Leah Ward Sears is also on the president’s “short list” of nominees to replace Associate Justice Stevens.
In the somewhat unfortunate phrasing of NBC’s 30 Rock, Sears would be a “two-fer” as both an African-American and a woman.
Sears recently wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal in which she discusses the “impossible to separate” gender- and race-based slights she has suffered over her career.
