Obama v. Gramm

I think NR’s editorial defending Phil Gramm from Obama’s nonsensical and dishonest attacks is great. So much for Obama’s new politics.

But I think my colleagues left out one useful point. Obama’s attack on Gramm hinges on his demonization of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999. Fair enough.

But one question NR might have asked: If Gramm’s judgment was so awful, and the bill so terrible, what does it say that the DNC was so proud to have Jim Leach, the legislation’s co-author, endorse Obama at the Democratic Convention?

Update: Oh, as several readers note, Joey Man of the People Biden voted for it too.
