Obama Pokes Fun at Zach Galifianakis’s Weight While Pushing for Obamacare

In a desperate effort to encourage young people to enroll in a health plan before the end of the sign-up period for Obamacare exchanges later this month, President Obama appeared on Zach Galifianakis’s Between Two Ferns, a parody talk-show series produced by the website Funny or Die.

In the mock interview, Galifianakis took jabs at President Obama, who was described as a “community organizer” on the chyron, about Dennis Rodman’s trip to North Korea, what it’s like to be the “last black president,” and how it feels that people only let him win at basketball because he’s the president. President Obama fired back by teasing The Hangover actor about his weight:

Zach Galifianakis: In 2013, you pardoned a turkey. What do you have planned for 2014.

President Obama: We’ll probably pardon another turkey. We do that every Thanksgiving. Was that depressing to you? Seeing one turkey kind of taken out of circulation, a turkey you couldn’t eat?

Later, as President Obama delivered his “plug” for HealthCare.gov, Galifianakis asked if “that’s the thing that doesn’t work.”

“Why would you get the guy who created the Zune to make your website?” he asked. President Obama insisted that it “works great now.”

After the president provided the phone number to call to sign up for Obamacare, Galifianakis wrapped up the interview — just before it was revealed that the webseries had been filming in the Diplomatic Room of the White House for years.
