Obama Fine with Carbon Emissions, At Least in Europe

This Tuesday wasn’t the best day ever to be an environmentalist. Despite the objections of green leaders, the president signed legislation protecting American airlines from European carbon-emission fees. And while people who go for flights on airplanes and don’t like being broke might will probably, as a whole, be pleased with his choice, environmentalists are not. The Hill reports that leaders of the movement saw the president’s decision on this bill as “the first test of the president’s commitment to fighting climate change in his second term” and will view its passage as a defeat.
