Just because it’s the rampant media speculation of the day doesn’t mean that Bloomberg as Obama’s VP doesn’t make a lot of sense. He would give Obama Republican/independent cred without causing liberals heartburn on social issues like Chuck Hagel would. He could shore up Jewish support. Picking Bloomberg would help fill an Obama weakness by bringing proven competence and executive heft to the ticket, while augmenting an Obama strength by emphasizing his “change” theme. The speculation on this one has just begun…

Hi Rich-

Bloomberg makes a lot of sense from a governing perspective, but it seems he appeals to the same political constituencies that Obama does. If your political weakness is working class whites in the Rust Belt, a Jewish billionaire New Yorker doesn’t seem to help so much.
