‘Now, All This Uncertainty Has Hurt the Economy’

Washington — Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) tells National Review Online that President Obama should be “embarrassed” for taking so much time to negotiate an extension of Bush-era tax rates. “This has always been a no-brainer,” he says. “The Democrats should have wrapped this up with us last spring; now, all this uncertainty has hurt the economy.”

If Obama announces an agreement soon, as expected, Sessions won’t be singing about triangulation. “He’s (dealmaking) only because he has to, not because he likes to. He knows he doesn’t have the votes.”

Robert Costa was formerly the Washington editor for National Review.
