Not the Foster Plan, But. . .

The Editors had hoped that Obama would refuse McChrystal’s resignation. That didn’t happen. But in replacing the general, Obama found the one man with as much credibility and counterinsurgency experience: Gen. David Petraeus

What next for McChrystal? It is clear that he is one of if not the most well-respected and influential American inside Afghanistan. Why not give him Eikenberry’s job? Not now, of course. But in a few months, maybe. I don’t have any higher hopes that this will happen than I did that the president would adopt “the Foster Plan,” but I can dream.

PS – I wonder if you’ll hear MoveOn.org say “Betray-Us” ever again? Oh, and by the way, Senator Obama voted present on the Senate resolution that condemned that ad.

PPS – Obama becomes the first president to relieve two war-time commanders since A. Lincoln.

UPDATE: Nor did Senator Biden vote to condemn the “Betray-Us” ad. Senator Clinton, amazingly, voted against the condemnation.
